The First Responder's Prayer

FATHER IN HEAVEN

Please make me strong when others are weak,

 brave when others are afraid,

and vigilant when others are distracted by the chaos.


Provide comfort and companionship to my family when I must be away.

Serve beside me, and protect me, as i seek to protect others.

A good place to start is by understanding the difference between stress (which includes minor everyday stress,) and critical stress which can be more severe, but less long lasting. There also is a lot of overlap between the two, so they can not be seen as mutually exclusive. Let's start with a simple definition of each, STRESS - This is the more general category of the two, and include the normal stressors of everyday life. This can include family challenges, bad traffic, a grumpy boss and many other things. General stress can often be resolved by the one experiencing symptoms. The Three Vital Ministries of the Average Christian: Veteran's Edition

Many believers, especially those new to the faith, believe personal ministry is beyond their abilities. Please understand I am not saying that every Christian should pastor a church or other large ministry. However much of the work of the church has been done, and should be done, by what are called lay (not licensed or ordained) ministers. I have identified three ministries which are vital to the Lord's work, but can be performed by any average Christian. It is my belief that anything done in Jesus' name, and for his purposes can be correctly termed ministry unless the action is sinful on its face (i.e. murder.) As veterans we certainly understand the value of service. It is because of this that we can find particular value in what I teach here.
